Losing an Emirates ID can be stressful, as it is one of the most essential identification documents in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Issued by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP), the Emirates ID serves as official proof of identity for residents and citizens, granting access to government services, banking, healthcare, travel within the GCC, and more. Without it, daily transactions and legal processes can become challenging.

Fortunately, replacing a lost Emirates ID is now easier than ever, thanks to the UAEICP app. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to apply for a new Emirates ID online, including costs, required documents, and processing time.

Step 1: Report the Lost or Stolen Emirates ID

If your Emirates ID is lost or stolen, the first step is to report it immediately. You can do this by visiting the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) website or using the UAEICP mobile app. You may also visit an ICP service center to file a report.

Step 2: Apply for a Replacement Online

Once the loss is reported, you can apply for a replacement Emirates ID online through:

  • UAEICP website
  • UAEICP mobile app (available for iOS and Android)

Follow these steps:

  • Log in using your UAE Pass or ICP account.
  • Select Replace Emirates ID from the available services.
  • Enter your personal details and upload the required documents.
  • Review your application and pay the replacement fee.

Step 3: Required Documents

To complete your application, ensure you have the following documents:

  • Passport copy (for expatriates)
  • Residence visa copy (for expatriates)
  • Lost ID report (if required)
  • New passport-size photo (for those whose ID is damaged)
  • Birth certificate (for children under 15)

Step 4: Fees and Processing Time

The cost for replacing a lost or stolen Emirates ID is Dh300, plus Dh70 for e-services and application processing. If you need express service, additional fees may apply.

Processing typically takes 24 to 48 hours for urgent applications and up to five working days for standard applications.

Step 5: Track Your Application

Once you’ve submitted your application, you can track its status via:

  • UAEICP website under ‘Track Application’
  • UAEICP app
  • SMS notifications sent to your registered mobile number

Step 6: Collect Your New Emirates ID

Once your replacement Emirates ID is ready, you will receive an SMS with collection details. The card is usually delivered to the registered Emirates Post branch or your home if you opt for courier service.
